Many students have applied to study in Canada in the winter of January. ECanadaSchool has prepared this admission guide for you, hoping to help everyone. Especially for those students who are studying in Canada for the first time, it is recommended to take a look at this guide.

Part I. You need to bring documents for entring Canada (recommended to carry in a carry-on bag)

1. Original passport;

2. Immigration Approval Letter-This document is just as important as a passport!

3. Canadian school's Letter of Acceptance;

4. Canadian official tuition receipt or tuition remittance slip (if the school receipt has not been received before departure);

5. Accommodation arrangement in Canada: If you live on campus, bring a letter of confirmation of your homestay; if you live in a homestay / relatives and friends, bring your homestay name, full address and contact information;

6. If you are under 18 years of age: if you are traveling alone, you need to bring a notarized certificate that your parents allow to travel alone; carry a guardianship notary certificate;

7. If the school address is not in Toronto / Vancouver and you need to transfer, you need to buy a connecting ticket;

8. It is best for students to open mobile roaming internationally; it is convenient to contact and pick up parents when they pick up the plane, or to solve some unexpected situations

Part II. Required documents for school registration

1. Junior / high school students: school admission notice (print), original passport, original study permit, latest junior / high school transcript, vaccination certificate, passport photo;

2. College / university: school admission notice (print), original passport, original study permit, college / university transcript (if available) and translation, high school diploma, transcript (English), language (if available) ;

3. Master: School admission notice (printed), original passport, original study permit, notarized bachelor's degree certificate, university transcript (Chinese or English or notarized certificate), graduation and language scores (if any).

4. Before the start of the school: Generally, 1-2 weeks before the start of the school, the registration process for freshmen is started; if the student is less than 18 years old, before arriving in Canada, the guardian must be informed of the student ’s arrival date, landlord name, address, postal code, phone number, etc (If the guardian and the host family are not the same); because when the student enters the country, the immigration officer may call the guardian's notary to confirm the information

Part III. Attention

1) Remember to pick up Study Permit at the first entry to Canada, the immigration officer may ask some questions, so students need to be familiar with the specific arrangements after they arrive in Canada, including the name of the school, location, length of study, majors, courses Type, approximate tuition amount, accommodation type, address, name and contact information of the pick-up person;

2) When you see the immigration officer politely say hello, answer the question truthfully and present the corresponding documents. If you are not sure or do not understand the question of the immigration officer, you can say Pardon? I need a translator)

3) It is not recommended to carry a large amount of cash, if it is more than CAD 10,000, you need to declare;

4) Remember not to bring fresh plants, fruits and meat food

Part IV. After entry

Immigration officials will issue a Study Permit to the student (see sample below). This document is important and is proof of student identity in Canada. See if the above information accurately includes your name, date of birth, etc. In the future, students should pay attention to the expiration date. Within 90 days of the expiration date, you can renew your visa online or contact us for renewal;  you must keep the study permit within valid period while studying in Canada.

The student visa (also called re-entry visa) that is affixed to the passport. Please see the sample below. We recommend that students confirm it's validity before the next departure from Canada, because if students return to their mother country to apply student visa, in some extreme cases, if the visa is rejected, students will not be able to return to Canada to study (even if they hold a valid study permit) Your study permit is useless. If you do not leave the country, it does not matter even if the student visa expire.

After getting the study permit, you need to collect your luggage and then left the airport hall. Otherwise, it is more troublesome to fold it back. There are also students who need to transfer, and their luggage is usually taken out first, then they will go to the customs to get the permit, and then transfer to the domestic terminal to wait for the plane to arrive.

Part V. Purchase of temporary insurance

If students arrive in Canada more than a week before the start of school, we recommend that you purchase temporary medical insurance. It is best to purchase medical insurance before departure so that it will take effect immediately after arrival because non-residents often see medical treatment, hospitalization and treatment in Canada. Generally calculated on a daily basis, with a minimum premium of less than two Canadian dollars per day

Part VI. Handling of emergencies

1. Flight cancellation / delay / change: please notify the pick-up person immediately; 2. Can't find the pick-up person: please contact each other directly by hand to confirm each other's location; 3. Lost baggage: wait or leave the baggage at the airport Download your contact number and mailing address
