At the end of October, the Thomson Reuters Foundation and Deutsche Bank jointly released a survey-The Best Country To Be A Social Entrepreneur In 2019 , A breakdown of the best countries for social entrepreneurs to live and work in. The survey is conducted every three years. The last study was published in 2016.

Canada won the best country to become a social entrepreneur in 2019. Canada ranked first overall this year, and it has made continuous progress in almost every category. Compared with 2016, although Canada has only risen by one place, it is no small achievement. In 2016, the United States ranked second overall, staying ahead in most categories, except for the ease of grants, support from non-financial institutions, and sales to the government. Since then, Canada has continued to grow and ranks in the top three in each category, in addition to attracting skilled employees and the ease of marketing to businesses. Despite the harsh winter, the quality of life in Canada is still very high. With a comprehensive score, it becomes the best place for social enterprise development, earning a living and looking for investment.

The second place in 2019 is Australia, and the third place is France.

The following is the 2016 ranking:

2016

The 2019 survey results show in-depth statistics covering 12 indicators, detailing the operation of social enterprises in 43 major countries.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation obtained these data by conducting a survey of 664 well-known experts from each country on the list. These experts are involved in various fields of work, including social enterprises, academics, investment, and policy formulation.

Of the 664 experts, women account for 45% and men account for 55%. The slight difference in the ratio of men to women is purely coincidental and does not reflect any gender bias in the selection process. The list includes only countries with at least 12 verifiable experts.

Due to the lack of well-known experts in the fields required to conduct the investigation, Iran and Saudi Arabia were excluded from the list.
