Program Description:

Advanced Law Enforcement, Investigations and Security is an Ontario College Graduate Certificate that prepares graduates to successfully enter the workforce as law enforcement and security professionals.

This intensive program is completed in two semesters; each semester concludes with a five-week field placement where students will be engaged in experiential learning with law enforcement, investigative and security agencies.

Advanced Law Enforcement, Investigations and Security is an Ontario College Graduate Certificate that prepares graduates to successfully enter the workforce as law enforcement and security professionals. This intensive program is completed in two semesters, with each semester concluding with a five-week field placement. Through this graduate-level program students broaden their knowledge base and skill set in law enforcement, investigations and security to improve their employability and prepare for advancement to supervisory roles.

Admission Requirement:

ONE OF:

• Protection, Security and Investigation Ontario College      Diploma

• Police Foundations Ontario College Diploma

• A Degree in a related discipline (as determined by the      College) upon completion of bridging program offered at Fanshawe College

• An equivalent qualification from another institution as      judged by the College

• Acceptable combination of related work experience and      post-secondary education as judged by the College*

AND:
Pass an aptitude test

• * Applicants may be required to submit a resume and      cover letter that includes details of work experience.

Graduates of Advanced Law Enforcement, Investigations and Security develop the advanced and specialized knowledge, skills and abilities for a variety of law enforcement and security fields:

• Municipal bylaw enforcement (Bylaw Enforcement Officer)

• Provincial enforcement (Peace Officer, Environment      Officer, Conservation Officer, Forestry Officer, Alcohol and Gaming      Inspector)

• Private investigation (Private Investigator)

• Site security (e.g., Security Guard, Security Officer      or Special Constable in hospitals, courthouses, transportation and      logistics, post-secondary institutions,  airports, special events)

• Retail security (e.g., Loss Prevention Officer)

• Cash services (e.g., Armoured Security)

• Canadian Border Services (e.g., Border Services Officer)

• National security and intelligence (e.g., Intelligence      Officer, Surveillance)

• Corrections (e.g., Correctional Officer)
