Program Description:
The electronic communication and navigation system is the heart of all aircraft. They are vital to the safety and success of all flights, no matter the journey or destination. Specializing in repairing and maintaining these systems is a vital piece of the aviation industry that produces rewarding and in-demand careers.
With the Transport Canada approved Aviation Technician – Avionics Maintenance program, you'll learn to become a vital and specialized member of the aviation team. You'll learn about all aspects of aircraft avionics systems used in general aviation, corporate, charter transport category aircraft, and helicopters. Along with developing cutting-edge computer and electronic systems skills, you'll also study aerodynamics, safety and flight control systems. As well, with aircraft constantly evolving and improving, you'll have opportunities to adapt and upgrade your skills and you progress through the program, embarking on a life-long learning journey.

The Aviation Technician - Avionics Maintenance program is a Transport Canada approved program (2011-08-4128) that provides the knowledge and skills required to start a career in aircraft avionics maintenance, which is responsible for servicing, repair and maintenance of aircraft electrical and electronics systems such as communication, navigation and data systems. This program covers all aspects of aircraft avionics systems used in general aviation, corporate, charter transport category aircraft and helicopters.
Admission Requirement:
OSSD with courses from the College (C), University (U),
University/College (M), or Open (O) stream WITH:
- Any Grade 12 English (C) or (U)
- Any Grade 12 Mathematics (C) or (U)
OR
Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE)
OR
Pre-Technology Ontario College Certificate
OR
Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) AND:
- Any Grade 12 Mathematics (C) or (U)
OR
Mature Applicant with standing in the required courses stated above

Career:
This program provides eighteen months of Approved Basic Training credit towards the forty-eight months experience required to obtain a Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license in the 'E' Category, and prepares the students for careers with Canadian and international aircraft maintenance and aircraft manufacturing organizations.
