Program Description:

Telling compelling stories and providing context to the issues that really matter is what a career in television news is all about. With Fanshawe's Broadcast Journalism – Television News program, you'll learn the hard skills necessary to find the heart of every story, and the technical skills needed to share them with your audience.

The television news business is changing. That's why you'll not only learn how to write effective news stories and shine in front of a camera, you'll also develop the skills to operate cameras, edit footage, write captivating news copy and how to conduct compelling interviews. As well, you'll learn the ins and outs of television production, directing and research. In the end, you'll be a versatile videographer, capable of adapting to any situation and work environment.

The Broadcast Journalism - Television News Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is designed to prepare informed, principled, creative and disciplined Broadcast Journalists for a career in Television News. The unique program focus is designed to train the news Videographer/Reporter/Producer. Program includes use of broadcast news gathering equipment, audio and visual, news writing, newscasting, news editing, interviewing, researching, TV video editing, TV newscasting, TV production and practical Broadcast Journalism experience. The program includes an ongoing Internship and a two-month Internship program in March and April to be completed in newsrooms across Canada.

OR
An equivalent qualification from another institution as judged by the College
OR
Professional background and experience judged by the College to be equivalent to the above
