Program Description:

In the Fanshawe Business – Payroll and Bookkeeping program, you'll focus your career goals, sharpening your accounting principles on cutting-edge computer software, enhancing your bookkeeping, payroll, compensation and benefits knowledge. You'll have the foundation to evolve with the always changing business sector. Available in a traditional in class format, with September admission.

There options to transfer to the Business-Accounting program or complement your diploma with a graduate certificate offered at Fanshawe College. You can also be eligible to complete a degree program at many other post-secondary institutions.

Along the way, you'll earn the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)designation, and credits toward a Certified Payroll Manager (CPM)designation with the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA).

 

Advantages:

Business - Payroll and Bookkeeping is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program. The program provides graduates with knowledge of 1) payroll and human resources practices including compensation and benefits, and 2) bookkeeping practices and related accounting software applications. Graduates will have met the educational requirements for the Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation and will have three advanced standing credits towards completion of the Certified Payroll Manager designation with the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA). In addition, graduates will have also completed the academic requirements for the Certified Bookkeeper designation with the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping (CIB). Graduates will be well prepared for self-employment or for entry-level careers in accounting, bookkeeping, taxation and payroll administration in a variety of industries.

 

Admission Requirement:

OSSD with courses from the College (C), University (U),
University/College (M), or Open (O) stream WITH:
- Any Grade 12 English (C) or (U)
- Mathematics* ONE OF:
       - Any Grade 12 Mathematics (C) or (U)
       - Any Grade 11 Mathematics (C), (U), or (M)
          (Note: a minimum final grade of 60 required for any Grade 11 Mathematics course)
OR
Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE)
OR 
Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) AND:
- Mathematics* ONE OF:
       - Any Grade 12 Mathematics (C) or (U)
       - Any Grade 11 Mathematics (C), (U), or (M)
          (Note: a minimum final grade of 60 required for any Grade 11 Mathematics course)
OR
Mature Applicant with standing in the required courses and grade stated above

Career

Graduates of the Business - Payroll and Bookkeeping program will be well prepared for entry-level careers in accounting, bookkeeping, taxation and payroll administration in a variety of industries or for self-employment. Positions include payroll clerk, compensation clerk, payroll administrator, bookkeeper, accounts payable/receivable clerk and accounting assistant.
