Program Description:

If you crave the experience of making valuable and useful wooden creations everyday, Fanshawe's Construction Carpentry Techniques program will allow you to work with your hands while developing the skills to jumpstart your career.

To begin with, only 50% of your studies will be in a classroom. Most of the time, you'll be working on real projects, honing your carpentry skills with real tools, preparing to take your hands to a satisfying career. You'll be able to tailor your schedule to study on Friday nights and weekends, or during the week. Whatever time suits you, your experience will be tailored to your needs. You'll learn the specialized skills needed to work with general contractors working in the residential sector of the market. You'll learn how to use and maintain small construction equipment and carpentry tools. You'll produce and place concrete formwork, and layout, assemble and construct wooden frames. Everything you need to contribute to a contracting team.

When you graduate, you'll be a vital member of the on-site team, and will have acquired your mandatory safety certification. If you're ready to get into the game and begin a satisfying career building the wooden structures that shape our world, sign up today.

Advantages:

The program provides training in the skills required for on-site general carpentry and construction work, including the maintenance and use of small construction equipment and carpentry tools. The construction of concrete formwork, the production and placing of concrete, and the layout, assembly and erection of structural wood frame work will be studied. Graduates are provided with the training needed to complete routine on-site tasks. Emphasis is placed on developing and practicing the hands-on skills needed in the field and in acquiring mandatory safety certification.
