Program Description:
If your career ambitions go beyond the status quo, and if you're interested the concept of life-long learning, the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program will help you add to your already impressive and specialized skill-set.
In the program, you'll combine hands-on industrial training with your academic studies, preparing you for management and leadership positions in the manufacturing industry. Refining your people skills is a major focus of the program. You'll also learn how to interpret product design drawings, develop and implement a production process, and apply manufacturing and quality control standards. And, in addition to technical skills, you'll learn business skills such as accounting, production cost estimating, statistical analysis, operations and resource management and customer service.
When you graduate, career opportunities include operations manager, plant supervisor, tool designer, quality engineer and more. And you'll be eligible for direct transfer into several bachelor's degree programs at Athabasca University.
Advantages:
Provides a broader experience (academic and industrial) in the more important aspects of manufacturing engineering. Industrial relations, advanced quality principles and project management are emphasized, since the graduate will need to be 'people oriented', being part of, and leading teams in an industrial setting.

A combination of relevant education and work experience in a related field as judged by the College to be equivalent to the above

Career
The demand for graduates is very high. Although employment is primarily in the manufacturing industries in such management functions as industrial engineering, plant layout, production planning and control, etc., the fundamentals of the program equip a graduate to function in many other areas.
