Program Description:
Walk into any office and the first person you see is the receptionist. They smile and greet you, setting the tone for the experience you're about to have. They also run the show behind the scenes, making sure everything is running smoothly. If an exciting career in an office intrigues you, the Office Administration – General program will set you up with highly transferable skills for this in-demand career.

In just one year, you'll learn how to communicate efficiently, prepare reports and presentations, as well as general accounting and customer service skills. As the competent professional managers rely on, you'll also learn the latest office computer technology and how to use your organizational and communication skills to communicate with co-workers, managers, clients and customers.
Advantages:
Skilled administrative support is vital to process business information accurately and to communicate effectively with fellow employees and the public. Five major areas of study are covered: oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, computer application skills, accounting ability and office procedures/production. As well, students are assisted in their improvement of "soft skills" such as listening, work ethic and team building.
Intermediate training in a variety of computer applications will be combined with understanding workplace behaviours and communication skills to prepare for a variety of entry-level office administration career opportunities. Utilizing these skills, students will be capable of producing documents and correspondence, presenting information, providing customer support, responding to routine inquiries, and supporting the management of a small organization or a department in a large organization.
Admission Requirement:
OSSD with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (M), or Open (O) stream WITH:
- Any Grade 12 English (C) or (U)
OR
Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE)
OR
Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED)
OR
Mature Applicant with standing in the required course stated above
