Program Description:

We get that it's difficult to choose a career, especially when it comes to science, the trades and the tech sector. With so many options available these days, why not take a year and find out what you're really passionate about? That's what the Pre-Technology program is all about.

This exciting one-year Ontario College Certificate program allows you to delve into various areas of technology and will help you prepare for and decide on your next step. You'll study with a hands-on approach, exploring a variety of technology subjects such as AutoCAD, practical electronics, welding, machining, computer applications, health and safety, physics and transportation. In addition, you'll discover pathways to programs in the Faculty of Technology, including Building Technology, Applied Science and Technology and Transportation Technology.

Advantages:
The Pre-Technology program prepares students for application to career programs offered in the Donald J. Smith School of Building Technology, the School of Applied Science and Technology, the School of Transportation Technology, The Norton Wolf  School of Aviation Technology and some technology programs offered at the regional campuses.

Admission Requirement:

OSSD with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (M), or Open (O) stream
OR
Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE) 
OR
Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED)
OR
Mature Applicant with appropriate preparation

Note:

• Admission to the      Pre-Technology program does not guarantee admission in a subsequent year      to any College program. Successful completion of the Pre-Technology      program, however, does enable the student to be given additional      consideration when applying for a career program in the Donald J. Smith School of      Building Technology, the School of Applied Science and Technology, the School of      Transportation Technology, The Norton Wolf School of Aviation Technology      and some technology programs offered at the regional campuses.

The program provides employment opportunities for students in that they gain entry-level media skills in the fields of audio and visual media, storytelling, performance and interactive media.
