Program Description:

Property, people and borders need to be protected by dynamic individuals who possess a diverse set of specialized skills. If you've been thinking about a career that is valued and respected, the Protection, Security and Investigation program will train you to be the best of the best, while also giving you a strong base to compete for a spot in Ontario Constable Selection System.

You'll study the theory of human relations, combined with practical aspects and applications of law enforcement, police powers, community policing and investigation. You'll also learn about the justice system, issues in diversity, and how to write for the human services. You'll be prepared to compete within the Ontario Constable Selection System for employment in public law enforcement or related careers.

When you graduate, you'll have learned the skills and attitudes necessary for working in the criminal justice system as a correctional service or prison officers, store investigators or loss control officers, security and safety officers, customs officers, retail security, or as a police officer.

Advantages:
Graduates of the Protection, Security and Investigation program acquire knowledge that equips them to competently, effectively and safely enter a variety of related fields as prescribed by both the private sector and the public sector.  Career opportunities may include private protective and/or investigative services, border control, airport security, customs and immigration, correctional services (community and institution) and areas of law enforcement such as the Canadian Forces.  Graduates will be prepared to complete the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services examinations (Security Guard Licencing). 

Admission Requirement:

Successful completion of Year 1 of the Police Foundations Ontario College Diploma program
OR
An equivalent qualification from another institution as judged by the College
OR
A combination of relevant education and work experience in a related field as judged by the College to be equivalent to the above

Graduates of the program will find employment opportunities as Correctional Service Officers or Prison Officers, as Store Investigators, Loss Control Officers, Security and Safety Officers, Customs Officers, Retail Security and other directly related employment.
