Program Description:

The Commerce Bridge program provides students with an Ontario college diploma or Ontario college advanced diploma (or equivalent) the opportunity to work toward a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree at UOIT. For graduates of an Ontario college advanced business administration diploma program, please see the Commerce – direct entry page.

Note: Only the bridge semester is available online. All subsequent courses are offered in an in-person/face-to-face format. Graduates of select Ontario college diploma programs will be required to pursue a modified bridge semester. These courses may only be available in a face-to-face format. Qualified applicants will receive an alternative offer of admission to the in-person program.

Integrating key business functions with hands-on training and the use and understanding of today’s latest technologies, the Commerce program will provide you with the skills necessary for employment in a competitive market. You will have the opportunity to pursue an internship, which will provide you with business and management experience. Alternatively, you may consider a UOIT Capstone Study Project, where you will work as part of a team to provide consulting services with one of our industry partners, supervised by both university faculty and the organization’s management team.

Our leading-edge commerce laboratories enable hands-on experience, and are fully integrated with the university’s technology-enriched learning environment. These innovative labs include:

  • Finance Laboratory

  • Marketing Laboratory

Admission Requirement:

An Ontario college diploma or Ontario college advanced diploma (or equivalent*) with a minimum mid-70s average.

*Graduates who hold a two- or three-year diploma or university degree not listed under the specific admission requirements should contact UOIT Admissions office to determine their eligibility.

Note: Admission is competitive. The specific average or standing required for admission varies from year to year. Students are selected by taking into consideration a wide range of criteria including school marks, distribution of subjects taken and performance in subjects relevant to the academic program. Possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Preference will be given to applicants with the best qualifications.

Please note: we are not accepting applications for this program for May 2017. Applications for the Commerce - Bridge (in-person) are open for May 2017 and September 2017.

Bridge Requirement:

Once you have completed the bridge courses with a minimum C grade in each course, you will proceed into the four-year BCom program. You will receive 15 courses toward your 40 course BCom degree.

If you have graduated from a two-year Ontario college diploma program in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing or Operations, you have the option to receive 15 specific transfer courses and proceed in the BCom program.
