Program Description:
The Early Childhood Education program at Centennial College is committed to ensuring you are prepared to be a leader in the profession.
As a student in the Early Childhood Education program, you learn to provide the high standards of care to children and their families that get our graduates respect as professionals. This highly-regarded undertaking teaches you to take responsibility for observing the needs of individual and groups of children, and create well-planned, stimulating and responsive programs. You come to understand the needs of infants, toddlers, pre-school and school-aged children.
Advantages:
· You experience practical experiential learning through three field placements in the community working directly with infants or toddlers, preschool and school-age children.
· Qualified and experienced supervisors support you during the field placement to ensure that your learning is optimized.
· Opportunities to work in full-day kindergarten environments are available to you during third or fourth semester.
· To support the student experience, in semester three and four a minimum of a one-week block placement is incorporated to maximize your ability to solidify skills.
· This program is committed to respond to and reflect current trends and direction in the field and profession.
· Highly-skilled faculty create stimulating learning opportunities in the classroom which address a range of learning styles.
Admission Requirement:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older)
English Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take the Centennial College English Skills Assessment for Admission

Credits Transfer
Students who successfully complete this program may qualify for entry into Ontario college graduate certificates and university degree programs at institutions such as McMaster University, University of Guelph and Northern Alberta Institution of Technology.
