Program Description:
The Food Service Worker program is a one-semester inclusive undertaking that provides you with the knowledge and skills to be an effective member of an interprofessional health care team.
The courses in this college certificate program were developed to meet the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care regulations, with input from professional organizations and health care employers, and meet current government standards and industry requirements.
Advantages:
This Food Service Worker program is based on documentation developed by members of Dietitians of Canada and the Ontario Society of Nutrition Management.
Training includes hands-on experience in a practical food lab.
During the first eleven weeks of the Food Service Worker program, classroom courses deal with the theoretical aspects of food service, the nutrition industry and the delivery of quality customer service.
The last part of the program is devoted to a three-week, two-day-per-week placement.
In addition to the Food Service Worker curriculum, you obtain Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training.
You will stand out to employers thanks to the opportunity to secure a TrainCan Basics Food Safety Certificate, which is recognized as a standard in the industry and accepted by Toronto Public Health as an equivalent to its Food Handlers Certificate.
