Program Description:
At Centennial College's Occupational Therapist Assistant & Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA & PTA) program, you learn to support people whose ability to function and adapt has been impaired or compromised by injury, illness, the process of aging and developmental or emotional disability.
Advantages:
You develop the knowledge and skills needed to work with clients in need of assistance to perform self-care, promote movement, improve function and participate in vocational and leisure activities.
Additional areas of instruction and development include respect and caring for the uniqueness of individuals, effective communication, critical thinking and decision-making.
You participate in several fieldwork experiences that provide opportunities for the supervised application of skills in a variety of clinical settings with a range of client populations.
During your placement, you test out your skills in a real-world setting, sample your career and discover the areas in which you may be interested before you graduate.
The facilities at which you are able to complete placement vary, and when combined, offer diverse experiences in both occupational therapy and physiotherapy disciplines.
Admission Requirement:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older)
English Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take the Centennial College English Skills Assessment for Admission
Biology Grade 11 C or U, or Exercise Science (minimum grade required), or equivalent
