Program Description:
The Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training program meets the requirements and preferences that real fire departments have for this training, making you highly eligible for a position.
Centennial College's School of Community and Health and Toronto Fire Services work together to deliver the Ontario-standardized Pre-service Firefighter Education and Training graduate certificate program. Additionally, it was designed in accordance with the approved curriculum developed by the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC) and the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM).
Advantages:
This Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training certificate program is taught in three consecutive semesters.
During the first two semesters, you receive one full day of practical training at the Toronto Fire Academy each week.
In semester three, practical training is scheduled twice per week.
You benefit from simulation training under the guidance of qualified instructors, while enjoying ample time in smaller group-teaching scenarios.
This School of Community and Health Studies offering allows you to gain practical experience in various activities such as "live fire burns" at the City of Toronto's Fire Training Academy and the Emergency Patient Care course at Centennial's Healthcare Simulation Centre.
Admission Requirement:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older)
English Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take the Centennial College English Skills Assessment for Admission
Mathematics Grade 11 or 12 C, M or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take the Centennial College Math Skills Assessment for Admission
One Science Grade 11 or 12 (Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Exercise Science) C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take the Centennial College Science Skills Assessment for Admission
