Program Description:
The Health Informatics Technology (Co-op) program incorporates knowledge of both information technology and health care systems, with the added benefit of co-op work experience.
Through the Health Informatics Technology program's courses, you learn to:
Design, develop, modify and test software for health care applications.
Analyze and model data.
Develop health care databases and apply various computer medical imaging techniques.
Use health informatics methods and software tools for hospitals, health care agencies and public health departments.
Design, develop and maintain the next generation of electronic health records applications and many other exciting software products.
Advantages:
In the Health Informatics Technology (Co-op) program you have the opportunity to complete three terms of paid co-op experience.
The places you may be able to complete your co-op placements include the Hospital for Sick Children, Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto General Hospital and Centenary Hospital.
Courses in the program, which prides itself on project-based learning, are delivered using leading-edge technology geared to industry standards.
Knowledgeable and approachable faculty members who have diverse business experience and academic credentials guide you through your courses.
Graduates from the program may apply for certified membership to either the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) or their provincial engineering technology association.
Admission Requirement:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older)
English Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take the Centennial College English Skills Assessment for Admission (score of 170 or 171 is required for admission)
Mathematics Grade 11 M or U, or 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take a Centennial College Engineering Math Skills Assessment for Admission
