We examine European developments from the Middle Ages to present day. You can study Europe in general or focus your studies on a specific country.
To fully understand the European continent, you'll take at least one course in a European language other than English – we offer French, German, Modern Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.
We encourage our students to spend a year studying in Europe through one of our many exchange or internship programs. You could go to Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Scotland, Spain or Sweden. While at York, you can attend activities organized by the on-campus Canadian Centre for German and European Studies which include workshops, seminars, conferences and lectures by visiting scholars and diplomats.
