Program description:

History is the study of the thoughts, actions and achievements of human beings over time. It communicates a profound and practical understanding of how our world came into being. Our program encourages you to specialize in what interests you, whether it’s cultural or art history, social or military history, or the history of crime or politics. Laurier’s History department teaches all periods from ancient to modern and is especially strong in the following topics:

·           Global history (both regional and transnational courses);

·           War and its impact;

·           Social, cultural and gender history; and

·           Innovative thematic courses (music, crime, business).

Advantage:

·           Many of our classes – including first-year classes – have small weekly tutorials, and our faculty are devoted to student success.

·           You’ll develop critical skills, and global and cultural understanding.

·           Study abroad as part of your coursework by taking travel courses, such as the War and Memory summer course, where you’ll visit memorials and battlefields across Europe.

·           Dive straight into a Master of Arts (MA) in History after completing your Bachelor of Arts (BA): apply for our BA + Master's program.

·           Our program is incredibly flexible, encouraging interdisciplinarity.

·           The History department is the administrative home of the Faculty of Arts’ Applied Digital Option, in which you'll learn to use programs and apps to carry out research, create and edit documentary films, publish open source texts, and build websites.
