Program description:

Indigenous Studies is a vibrant field of social, political, historical and cultural study in Canada and around the globe. Combining a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Indigenous Studies with another BA program – such as Human Rights and Human Diversity, Criminology, Community Health or Youth and Children’s Studies - enhances the breadth and depth of your knowledge. Our classrooms teach the perspectives and experiences of Indigenous people (who make up about 20% of the world’s population) to deepen your understanding.

This field is growing rapidly and we have designed a program that will prepare you to engage with important issues facing Canada and the world through course work in two programs and community service learning opportunities.

Advantages:

·         You’ll have the opportunity to work in the Medicine Garden at our Brantford campus Indigenous House, and learn from community leaders from the nearby Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.

·         Our Indigenous Student Centres at both our Brantford and Waterloo campuses are not only places where Indigenous students can connect with their heritage, but are also places of education for the broader Laurier community. All are welcome to our community medicinal and vegetable gardens, soup and frybread lunches, and other cultural programming hosted throughout the year.
