You'll discover how to design, install, troubleshoot and maintain microcomputer systems and networking equipment. You'll also learn how to install, configure and administer operating systems from Microsoft and UNIX, and study advanced topics in network management, communication protocols, security, web support, database servers and mail servers.

In today's IT sector, you need more than technical skills. The co-op component of the program will provide hands-on experience in real working situations. You'll develop your communication and interpersonal skills to work with all levels of computer users in the business world.

When you graduate, you'll have the knowledge and skills to test for certifications including Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).

You may also choose to apply the knowledge gained to prepare and test for certifications in CompTIA's A+, Network+ and Security +, and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

The Computer Systems Technology program is an accredited, three-year co-operative education, Ontario College Advanced Diploma program which provides comprehensive training for students wishing to work in the high demand areas of network, security, virtualization, data storage and management and systems operation and management.  This program provides the students the ability to be effective team leaders, think critically, solve problems and acquire new skills quickly.

Under the guidance of expert faculty, combined with the use of leading edge labs, the program emphasizes the design, implementation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, management, as well as the hands-on installation of networking, security, VoIP, mobile devices, virtualization, data storage and management, server, workstation and operating systems technologies.

Instruction in project management, communication and interpersonal skills prepare the student to effectively interact with all levels of users in both oral and written mediums.

Upon completion of the program, and in addition to the highly valued Ontario College Advanced Diploma, graduates should have the knowledge and skills to take exams for the following certifications, if they choose to do so: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). Graduates may also choose to apply the knowledge gained to prepare and test for other industry certifications, such as those offered for Microsoft, Linux, VMWare and EMC².

Admission Requirement:

OSSD with courses from the College (C), University (U),
University/College (M), or Open (O) stream WITH:
- Any Grade 12 English (C) or (U)
- Any Grade 11 or Grade 12 Mathematics* (C), (U), or (M)
OR
Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE)
OR
Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) AND:
- Any Grade 11 or Grade 12 Mathematics* (C), (U), or (M)
OR
Mature Applicant with standing in the required courses stated above

• *Applicants who lack the      required Mathematics may still gain eligibility for admission by      completing appropriate prior upgrading.
