Program Description:

Banks, brokerages, mutual fund and full service dealers, and insurers all need financial planning experts. Seneca's Financial Planning Ontario College Graduate Certificate, taught by industry experts from Toronto's financial services sector, prepares you to succeed with detailed knowledge of financial products and services and an appreciation of how to interact with and support your firm's clients, given their unique financial needs, goals, and dreams.

 

Complementing your in-depth financial planning knowledge you will have the opportunity to complete the educational and license requirements for financial planning industry designations such as the CFP and the Canadian Securities Course (CSC). Your leadership, communications, interpersonal and management skills will develop as you complete the program.

 

 

Admission Requirements:

  • A recognized      degree or postsecondary diploma from an accredited institution; OR

  • Mature      Student Status (age 19 or older) with 3 to 5 years of documented work experience      in a related field. Relevant references must be provided.

  • English      proficiency at the college level.

Career:

Financial Advisors work for banks, insurance companies, investment dealers, wealth management firms or as independent financial planners. As an advisor your role is to help individuals make the most of their financial assets by assisting them in understanding their investment and savings options and creating realistic and appropriate financial strategies. You will work with your clients to understand their short- and long-term goals and level of risk tolerance to provide personalized advice and customized financial plans to meet their financial objectives. Common job titles include Financial Planner, Investment Advisor, Investment Counsellor, and Personal Banking Advisor.
