Program Description:
This program is suitable as a pre-professional program preparing students for faculties of environmental studies/sciences, law and education; and for work in health administration, government and the corporate world.
Developed by Professor Emeritus Allan Sangster — one of Canada’s first environmentalists — our Environmental & Health Studies program focuses on a social vision of the environment and health, preparing you for further studies in law, education, biomedical and environmental sciences, and for work in health administration in the corporate world. As a student, you’ll have the option of taking courses such as Communication, Health and Environment, Humans as Primates: Comparative Evolutionary Views, and Conservation Biology. Whether you join Professor Jocelyn Martel in his regular field trips and experiments in the Don River Valley bordering campus or take advantage of courses offered at the Keele Campus to complete the prerequisites needed for medical school, Environmental & Health Studies will equip you to discuss the issues relating to health and environment from a wide variety of perspectives.
Founded by one of Canada’s first environmentalists, our program focus includes ecology, environmental science, and health from a mainly biological perspective. You’ll develop a thorough understanding of environmental, ecological, biomedical and health-related issues with the transferable skills that are the cornerstones of a liberal arts education — all while studying in the perfect living laboratory: our beautifully wooded ravine campus.
