Program description:

Human Rights and Human Diversity (HRHD) prepares you for a career where you can make a difference by advancing human rights and social justice in Canada and around the world.

You will examine current issues that matter in people's lives such as:

·         children's rights

·         disabilities

·         multiculturalism

·         women's rights

·         crimes against humanity

·         racism

·         human trafficking

·         gender issues

You will study organizations that can be used to address injustice (UN, the Charter of RIghts and Freedoms and non-governmental organizations. You will develop skills that human rights organizations value, such as grant writing, policy analysis, intercultural competence, professional fundraising, human rights education and designing social media strategies. Ask us about our internships in Ghana, Africa and summer migration course in Mexico City.

 

Advantages:

·         Focus on developing workplace-relevant skills like writing policy analysis papers, preparing grant applications, and professional fundraising.

·         You can also apply for the Bachelor of Laws (University of Sussex, UK) and Bachelor of Arts (Laurier) program, where you earn an honours Arts degree from Laurier and a law degree from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom in six years.

·         There are many opportunities to gain workplace experience: eligible students can participate in course-relevant internships and volunteer placements in Canada and abroad – and receive course credit towards their degree. We even have competitive funding opportunities for a three-month work-study at nongovernmental organizations in Ghana.

 

Admission Requirement:

·           Admission range of low 70s.

·           English at 60%.

The Tuition fee in WLU depends on the credits students will choose and Students will be responsible for all fees assessed on their statement of billings.
