School Profile

Fisherman's Village High School, Unionville High School, the fifth-ranked veteran top high school in the province for the past five years, starts 404 east of the school district and west of Warden Ave to parts of Kennedy Rd, north of HWY7 and south of 16th ST . The secondary school is located next to the office building in Markham City Hall. Due to the fact that the school is located in the city of Wanjin with the highest proportion of Chinese residents, the percentage of Chinese students is very high and there is no suspense of outstanding achievements. The school was established in 1985 and currently has more than 2,000 students. One of the initial ideas for establishing a school was to set up a secondary school with an art education as an art project in the York area

School characteristics of the project

"Art specialty students" recruit units

One of the most proud courses at Fisherman's Save High School is Arts Unionville (formerly Arts York), which is designed specifically for talented students. There are four major art projects in the program, including dance, drama, music, and visual arts (Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts).

Arts Unionville is a four-year project that used to go to Toronto-wide entry, but in 2009-2010 this project has been adjusted to include only students in Markham except for piano and stringed instruments After interview and review, will be admitted. While interviews or jury meetings are scheduled to take place in the last week of January each year, students wishing to study in Arts Unionville must play their part in the meeting. To be admitted, students should take eight specialized subjects during their four-year high school curricula in their majoring in arts courses, that is, taking two subjects each year.

School after school activities and school equipment

In the field of after-school activities, general academic and sports clubs, such as reading clubs and badminton clubs, naturally find themselves in Fisherman's Village High School. Of course, there are some organizations in the school that are related to the ethnic background of students, for example, the Greek Traditional Society, the Multicultural Society and the Chinese Cultural Society. These associations can deepen students' interest in and understanding of their own culture. The school encourages students to participate in activities organized by the outside world but related to ethnic cultures. For example, the middle school students' Chinese debate competition organized by the Study Hall often includes a student team at Fisherman's Village High School with outstanding achievements.

The purpose of Fisherman Village High School is to explore the potential of students in arts and textbooks and to encourage them to continuously improve their academic performance while participating in artistic creation. The school has all kinds of facilities, there are all kinds of special classroom visual art room, communications, new media laboratory, design and technology laboratory, dance room, music room, drama room, home research laboratory, darkroom photography, science lab, Resource Center.
