Our previous article mentioned that in order for children to adapt to the Canadian environment earlier and increase their chances of entering a prestigious university, more and more parents choose to let their children come to Canada to study in high school. In Canada, public secondary schools can be divided into 1) ordinary public secondary schools, 2) church public secondary schools; private secondary schools can be divided into: 3) aristocratic secondary schools, 4) boarding private secondary schools, and 5) ordinary private secondary schools. Faced with so many choices, sometimes parents and children should choose the school that suits them best. Please continue to read the articles that we have prepared for you.

1. Public High School:

Advantages: The regional public education bureau has unified management, such as the Toronto Education Bureau, the York Regional Education Bureau, and the Vancouver Education Bureau. Tuition is cheaper than other private high schools, and tuition for one academic year is around 15,000 Canadian dollars. School arrangements or school partnerships arrange homestay accommodation. The school has only 5% of international students and has a good English learning atmosphere.

Disadvantages: The school starts only in September and January. The list of schools for international students and the number of international students in each school are limited. It is necessary to start applying half a year in advance. Public school hours are 9:00 am and 3:30 pm. After school, the free time is long and it is not suitable for students with poor self-control. There is no intensive English learning course in private secondary schools. International students may have mathematics and physics courses in the 12th grade, and English in the 10th grade. It takes more than half a year to one year to take English classes, which affects the university time.

Suitable for: Grades 9-11, good English, strong self-control, or students who want to lay a good foundation or have relatives and friends living near the school.

2. The Public Catholic School Board:

Advantages: The management of public high schools is more strict than that of other middle schools. It has regulations on students' dress and words and deeds, and the general school spirit is good. The remaining advantages are roughly the same as in ordinary public secondary schools. Tuition fees are about 15,000 Canadian dollars in the same academic year as other public education bureaus. School arrangements or school partnerships arrange homestay accommodation.

Disadvantages: Church secondary schools have interactions with Catholic/Christian, such as Bible study, prayer, etc. Although they are not mandatory for international students, they are not suitable for students who are not interested in religious activities. The remaining shortcomings are roughly the same as in ordinary public secondary schools.

Suitable for: Grades 9-11, good English, preferably Catholic/Christian background, self-made students.

3. Noble High School:

Advantages: The school has a long history and a high reputation. The classmates are all from high-quality families, with high quality and high-quality talents. Almost 100% of the rate of enrollment, students are enrolled in major universities after graduation, and the network of classmates after graduation is not comparable to ordinary middle schools. Students stay in school and have a special person to manage. Rich teaching and extracurricular activities, advanced teaching facilities, each student's attention is high, and students develop in many aspects.

Disadvantages: The cost is high. The academic year is between 60,000 and 70,000 Canadian dollars (including tuition fees, living expenses, etc.); the admission requirements are high, students are required to take the test and interview; the school is not willing to accept the senior students, but also hopes that the students will read from the lower grades.

Suitable for: students in the lower grades with excellent grades, good English and good family economics.

4. Private Boarding School:

Advantages: Flexible start time, 5-6 start times per year. In small classes, students are highly valued by teachers. The teaching time is tight, and students will not have a state of school at 3:30 in the afternoon. The English course is arranged intensively to avoid situations where the English course credits are not adequately fixed. The school aims at further studies, and the rate of enrollment is higher than that of ordinary public schools. Students stay in school and have life teacher management. Parents don't have to worry about accommodation and food, and they don't have to worry about the safety of students. Tuition fees are slightly higher than public high schools, but far lower than the aristocratic middle schools, which are more economical. One year tuition plus living expenses is about 40,000 Canadian dollars.

Disadvantages: There are more international students, and there may be cases where students of the same nationality get together.

Suitable for: 9-12 grade, the English level is generally good, self-control students. Or a student who has no relatives in Canada and wants the school to be a closed parent.

5. Ordinary private secondary schools:

Advantages: fast credits and flexible start time. Students are divided into courses for the purpose of studying, intensive courses, and also provide English test training.

Disadvantages: There are many international students, and the English learning environment is general. Most of these types of schools do not have independent campuses, mostly renting a few floors in an office building, or just a small office building, facilities are not as good as other schools, and students have relatively few courses to choose from. Some schools may have management confusion.

Suitable for: students who are in urgent need of credits, 12th grade students; or students who do not have satisfactory grades in public schools and want to improve their average score.

As the saying goes, “Gold will always shine.” Every student has his own characteristics, preferences and needs. Just choose the school that suits you and work hard during your studies. We believe that students can enter their ideal university and meet A new stage in life!
